Filed under: Uncategorized — sweetzrv @ 10:48 pm

I came across this hair removal technique and thought I would share it with you.  I haven’t tried it to be honest… am i willing to try it.. i’m curious enough to do it yes… so yes maybe i’ll try it.. and plus it seems easy enough….just gotta get my pieces of clothe….but then there is the issue of cutting the strips and then taking my time to paste on the consistency and then remove it.. do i have that patience.. i think not… but if there is anyone out there that has tried this, or is reading this for the first time and would like to try it.. please do and let us know how it comes out…

Enjoy!!

Removing Extra Hair

Body Sugaring is a natural way to remove the hair that you don’t want from your body. Basically, you are making a cooked paste out of white sugar and other ingredients that you will spread on your legs and, using strips of cloth, removing the hair. You will need a stove and pot to cook the sugar mixture in and an old sheet to cut up into strips or a couple of yards of cheap broadcloth from Walmart [or any store that sells fabric..]. The strips can be used again by washing in a lingerie bag in your washer.

Body Sugar Recipe

  • 1-7/8 cups of white sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice

Use a fairly large, heavy pan because the sugar will foam up as it boils. Mix the ingredients in the pan and put on medium heat. Boil gently until a candy thermometer reads 120 degrees C. The mixture will turn an amber color as it cooks. Take it off the heat, let it cool a bit and pour into a container. A wide shallow one works best – if you have a tall container, the paste tends to get all over the stick. When cooled, it should be quite thick.

To use the paste, either microwave it (careful-it heats up fast) or boil some water and let the jar sit in the hot water for about 5 minutes. Be sure to test the temperature *very* carefully before you put a lot on your skin. Test a bit on the palm of your hand where the skin is a little thicker and tougher. Use a craft stick, like a tongue depressor, to spread the paste. The paste works best when it is very warm, it spreads thinner that way.

Take a bit of paste on the stick and spread it on, as thin as you can, in the direction of the hair growth. Put a strip on the paste and press it on firmly. Pull the strip off against the direction of the hair growth. Be sure to hold your skin taut, and pull the strip directly back, not up. You can use the same strip a couple of times. To clean up, all you need is soap and water. You can cream your legs after with a good natural lotion. By Debra from Colorado Springs

Blessings Are Coming Your Way

Today’s Scripture

“May the Lord, the God of your fathers, increase you a thousand times and bless you as he has promised” (Deuteronomy 1:11 NIV).

Today’s Word from Joel and Victoria

God wants to release favor and blessing in your life. He longs to be good to you. He has blessings in store for you simply because someone in your family line honored Him. It may have been a parent or grandparent, or maybe someone back in your history that you don’t even know; but because they lived a life of faith, now you are going to reap the rewards. It may have been a hundred years ago, but God wants to increase you a thousand times over your ancestors. These are ancestral blessings. When you have those moments when you feel like you’ve received “favor out of nowhere” that’s the time to thank God for His grace and mercy. Thank Him for His promise to pass down blessings from generation to generation.

Remember, we serve a gracious and mighty God. His favor lasts a lifetime! Open your heart and begin to expect Him to move in your life. Look for His blessings and praise Him for taking you into the abundant life He has prepared for you!

A Prayer for Today

Father in heaven, thank You for Your faithfulness in my life. I give You honor and glory today for all You have done for me and for the good plans You have prepared for my future. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Basic Homemade Body Scrub August 12, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — sweetzrv @ 3:19 am

This is a simple recipe for a homemade body scrub.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup oatmeal
  • 3 tblsp Olive oil or baby oil [as needed]
  • 1 tblsp honey [optional but is very good with binding the mixture and its always great for your skin]
  • 1 tsp herbs [you can get this from tea bags like chinese green tea or any herbal teabag]
  • 2 tblsp water
  • 1 vitamin E capsule

You will need to combine the dry ingredients in a blender. Add the oil, vitamine e capsule, and water [as needed].  Blend until sugar and oats are to your desired texture.  Pour into a bowl and add honey.  Stir well.  Bottle paste and store in the refridgerator.  Can last up to about 10 days. Its important that as you take out mixture that you use a clean utensil. Enjoy.. You can also add a drop or two or peppermint oil if you like or even a few drops of lemon juice, if desired.

I must mention special thanks to my friend, Arlene, who started me on homemade scrubs..and whose ideas i have stolen :)

He Will Deliver You

Today’s Scripture
“Call on Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall honor and glorify Me” (Psalm 50:15)

Today’s Word from Joel and Victoria Osteen
Are you facing trouble in any area of your life today? God is standing ready to deliver you. He promises in His Word that He is near to all those who call upon His name. No matter what you may be going through, have confidence knowing that God is working behind the scenes on your behalf. He promises to deliver you!

Notice that this verse tells us that our part is to honor and glorify Him. You don’t have to wait until everything is perfect to give Him praise. You can give Him honor and glory right now. You can thank Him for all He’s done in your life so far, and what He will do in your future. Call on Him today and focus on having an attitude of faith and expectancy. Speak His Word and declare His promises over your life, knowing that He promises to deliver you. Trust in Him because He will take you places you’ve never dreamed. As you praise Him, He’ll take you higher and higher into the life of victory He has in store for you!

A Prayer for Today
Father in heaven, today I call upon Your Name. I call upon You as my Salvation and my Deliverer. I trust that You are working on my behalf and choose to give You all the honor and glory. In Jesus’ Name.
